The laboratory is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment and qualified staff to perform clinical tests on patient specimens/samples.

Our expanded operating times are from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday and on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon… providing patients with increased access and more efficient diagnostic testing solutions.

OUR SERVICES

Clinical testing strategies vary based on the test the prescribing physician is requesting and the urgency required. We perform numerous tests on varying machines and mediums using a variety of reagents and technology all requiring different equipment and levels of expertise. We offer increased capabilities for routine lab tests, vitamin assays, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology and allergy testing, allowing for more efficient, precise and expanded studies. Regardless of the type of tests, we operate under strict regulations to ensure efficacy and patient privacy in keeping with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines and standards. Our machines and staff has the technical certifications to provide the quality clinical data that will be the game changer for patient management in Jamaica and the Region.

At your visit to the lab we will perform testing on a variety of samples/specimen that you will provide. See below for examples of sample types and what we may do with them:

Blood

Blood tests are vital to understanding a patient’s health, as blood contains many useful biomarkers such as cell counts, biochemistry information, and inflammatory and genetic markers. Blood is drawn and centrifuged and otherwise prepared to separate the different components, which are then analyzed.

Urine

Urine samples are non-invasive and easy to perform. These provide a wealth of information quickly on a patient. The urinalysis breaks down the components of urine to check for drugs, blood, protein, minerals, pH, glucose, hydration status and to check for the presence of pathogens.

Stool

Like urine tests, stool tests are non-invasive and easy to perform. Stool tests are useful in determining the presence of pathogens in the stool or to identify blood which could signal the presence of extensive/invasive gastrointestinal disease.

Virology Swabs

We mentioned mucousal swabs earlier but in the current medical climate we need to make mention of the viral swabs that we offer. COVID-19, RSV and Flu swabs are taken via oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal and outer nare swabs so that we may perform antigen or PCR testing on them. This helps in the differentiation of these viruses and help physicians to predict and anticipate how the virus will behave. This foreknowledge help in the anticipatory management of patients and ultimately saves more lives.

Tissue

Tissue samples, obtained from external or internal biopsies, are taken to lab to so that we may perform varying tissue analyses. Biopsies are common in cancer treatment, where you doctor will remove tumour tissue to observe its makeup, which can be remarkably useful in diagnosis and treatment. Tissue tests are often the most invasive medical tests, involving specialized equipment and surgeons to excise the desired tissues.

Allergy Testing

We are proud to boast that we are the only lab in Jamaica that can perform accurate allergy, food intolerance and sensitivity tests. We utilize blood samples to test for the following:

Bodily Fluids

Saliva, mucus, semen and cerebrospinal fluid are also useful in medical testing. We use different equipment and procedures based on the bodily fluid being analysed. Some of these tests are non-invasive, requiring only a swab or a sample, but other specimens such as the internal bodily fluids of the pericardium, pleural space, and spine must be obtained via a needle. Some swabs may be done at our laboratory and other swabs and fluids would likely be taken by your physician and sent to us for testing. Our state of the art technology, procedures and handling will not only ensure fast turnarounds but accuracy so that treatments, if necessary, can be handled early.
